1981 Yamaha XV750 Custom Cafe
Full story of this bike by our friend Lorenzo Rapparini

"Sgarbeda means rude in Bolognese slang. Here's our last motorcycle. It is ours, because this time we are three of us: 3 friends (Lorenzo, Cesare and Matteo). All of us with the same damn passion for building bikes... The product of 3 brains, but the best thing is that it was commissioned by a client from Modena - The motor valley, NbL -" / "Sgarbeda in dialetto, la sgarbata, ecco la nostra ultima motocicletta.

"The donor bike is a 1981 Yamaha XV750, shaft drive of course, chosen several years ago, I mean when this kind of bike wasn’t so popular to turn into a café racer. The engine was restored and the rest.. Well, the rest is entirely handmade" / "La base è una vecchia Yamaha XV 750 del 81, a cardano ovviamente, scelta ancora in tempi non sospetti, prima che fosse così inflazionata, il motore è stato risistemato e revisionato e il resto, beh il resto è tutto fatto a mano".

"Several components were made on a lathe like the seat brackets, bolts, buttons,  footpegs, bushings, and the spacer bushings hidden in the tail. The special parts that immediately catch the eye are certainly: the tail, consisting of several layers of aluminium (each layer being a 4mm sheet, held together by concealed screws), which contains the embedded plexy rear light and supports the leather upholstery coming from a beautiful antique sofa treated by genuine cat nails. Or even the rods of the gear shift lever / rear brake, built using a bike chain… Or the levers themselves, aluminum and steel custom made. Under the seat you’ll like the two seat brackets, and moving down, you’ll notice the one off conic filter that is connected to the hidden air box through a custom steel flange."

"Molti pezzi fatti al tornio come reggi sella, bullonerie, pulsanti accensione, pedane, staffe pedane, boccole leveraggi pedane, e boccole spaziatrici sella.

"The entire bike has been treated to give her a worn up appearance (not exactly a coup de theatre, but still a good move)."

"The Motogadget instrument is embedded in the gas tank. Just in case you are wondering what the fuck is doing the speedo over there, the answer is that there was an hole in the original tank that was exactly the same size of the instrument and I thought it was a shame not to use it!

"Moving on, here we have the custom made exhausts: unique for shape and sound, built from steel pipes, mig home-welded with Supertrapp blades."

"Despite quarrels, disputes and arguments, I’m happy with our work. It ain’t easy to get three cocks in the same chickencoop, but I’m satisfied of the team. Gentlemen, it has been a pleasure to play with you!" Lorenzo Rapparini  - Bologna, Italy

Lorenzo Rapparini - Bologna, Italy
