1949 Indian Scout 249 by Analog Motorcycles - Gurnee (IL), USA

The famous Indian Scout was built by the Indian Motocycle Company from 1920 to 1949. It rivaled the Chief as Indian's most important model. The 101 Scout, made from 1928 to 1931, has been called the best motorcycle Indian ever made but, between 1962 and 1967, the legendary New Zealander Burt Munro used a modified 1920 Indian Scout to set three historical land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. One of the main features of the traditional Scout was its typical v-twin engine, but, in 1949, Indian introduced its last Scout, the 249, powered by a 440 cc. straight-twin, inspired by English designs similar to Edward Turner's vertical twin Triumph, the base of the motorcycle about which we are talking today. The 249 Scout was replaced by the 250 Warrior the next year. The Indian Scouts and Arrows of 1949-1952 received a lot of faults for the downfall of the famous Indian Motocycle Company. But the story is controversial. This special build certainly gives back a lot of dignity to this model.
